While the Nintendo Switch has been out for almost two years now they haven’t had a lot of visual novels make it on the system state side, ~Yet~ There is two that are to hit the system next month though!
The Visual Novels that’s out Already
Taking a look at the Nentendo E-Shop there are three games that are out that I found stateside. These are: The Men of Yoshiwara: Ohgiya, The Charming Empire , And Gakuen Club. These are all alike in the fact that they are popular romance game in Japan aimed at a female audience.
While There is nothing wrong with any of these games I’m happy to see more come to the switch. The idea of being able to play my Visual Novel games on the go I think is a Key Selling point. Here is what coming out soon,
Song of Memories
This game had a release date back in 2017 for the Switch, but got cancelled. Now again it seems it is being release again at the start of next month, February 2019. Like the other Entry on this list so far it’s a Romance game that is popular in Japan. Unlike the others this one is aimed at a male audience. It does have a twist though! Song Of Memories is a tale of love in the early days of a monster apocalypse! Can you discover the truth and save the love of your life?

Steins;Gate Elite
This is Steins;Gate but fully remastered with animated scenes from the anime. This makes it a new experience. Some people love the artwork the game had and felt the anime didn’t live up to it BUT I do know some hated the style of art the game used. In case you don’t know the game follows a rag-tag band of tech-savvy young students who discover the means of changing the past via e-mail using a modified microwave. Their experiments in pushing the boundaries of time begin to spiral out of control as they become entangled in a conspiracy surrounding SERN, the organization behind the Large Hadron Collider, and John Titor, who claims to be from a dystopian future. There is also exclusive content, 8-BIT ADV STEINS;GATE, with the purchase of STEINS;GATE ELITE on Nintendo Switch. Play as Okabe and explore an 8-bit version of Akihabara! This is only available for Switch while supplies last.
My Girlfriend Is A Mermaid
Another Romantic game for a aim for guys. Our lead once again meets his childhood friend, Ion… who is now a mermaid? Soon meeting other mermaids, It is these encounters that bring our protagonist in contact with the legend surrounding mermaid.
My Girlfriend is a Mermaid had a Kickstarter to bring it to the states. Coming soon on Steam and will release on the last day of next month on Switch. It is going to have a digital only release from what I can tell but you can get the Asia hard copy here!
