What is the Premise?
In Japan it is known as Maoyū Maō Yūsha (Demon King and Hero) This anime starts when Demon King (Maoyu) and the Hero (Yusha) meet up for the first time. The Hero there to kill the Demon King and end the war. Although he was thrown of by the Demon King being female. This is when the Demon King point out how both Humans and Demons currently need the War. Humans wouldn’t allow a end to the war even if the Hero won because the sudden end to the war can bring further chaos to the world as the Humans, currently united to stand against their common enemies, would eventually begin fighting among themselves.
What type of show is it?
Starting where most animes would end, This show move to focus on the politics of the world. Trying to help the world find a place to end instead of simply focusing on fighting. Of course the war is still raging on but our heroes, rather, Demon King and Hero, are trying to keep the fighting down while finding ways for people to live once the war stops.
Is it a Hidden Gem?
I suppose many people would compare this anime to Spice and Wolf, with good reason. The subject matter of politics are the same although they are taking from very very different angles. I seen people think they are alike while others feel they aren’t alike at all. Regardless this does end with the feeling of you wanting more with loose ends.
Rating : A Rough Gem!
An Anime Worth going out of your way for if are looking for a different type of fantasy anime. The lack of a true ending hurts it but may change with another season if it ever gets one.
