Hidden Gem Manga Review, A Silent Voice

What is the Premise?

This story starts in elementary when a young girl named Shōko Nishimiya join the class with a hearing disability. Shōya Ishida was in the everyday fight with boredom, and Shoko was turning his life upside down. Before long Shoya started to Bully Shoko as a new form of entertainment. Soon the story jumps to Shoya high school years, showing the effects of his choices.

What type of Manga is it?

This manga is a coming-of-age, slice of life, with some romance all bundled into it’s seven books. The Movie by the same name, A Silent Voice, is strongly close to it’s source material in this one.

Shōko Nishimiya Intro to her class.

Is it a Hidden Gem?

I must admit, Being a fan of Anime over Manga, the movie did take the best that this Manga had to offer. There was some good points of extra content that did get cut in the making of the movie. With the movie being quite long as is, I felt they pick some of the best points to cut. Though the opening does give a little more background on what was happening in Shoya’s head.

Rating : A True Gem!
An Manga worth going out of your way for. Being in love with the movie I’m happy to get the extra content that was left out in the Manga though they did take most of the best parts for the movie. For those who trying to pick Manga or Movie I will say that both are quite good and wouldn’t say one have an advantage over the other.
