What is the Premise?
Following the life of Shōya Ishida the story starts in 6th grade when a young girl named Shōko Nishimiya join the class with a hearing disability. Bulling take a major part in this film before flashing forward to the teenage years and showing the long term effects of everything that happen in the past. Here we watch Ishida sets out make amends
What type of show is it?
A Silent Voice is Very much a coming-of-age, slice of life, with some romance all bundled into just over two hour movie. This movie is very much an emotional journey about the true meaning of friendship and forgiving yourself. There is romantic tones but they aren’t the main focus.
Is it a Hidden Gem?
I always felt that Japan always try to cram too much into a story for it to really fit into a movie well. Exceptions can be had. Studio Ghibli aside many Anime movies had a tie in to other related things or many times felt overly full. But lately, or maybe I just started to realize, that this isn’t as true anymore. Many speak wonders about the movie Your Name which is good but I must say, I thought A Silent Voice knocked it out of the park.
A True Gem!
An Anime Worth going out of your way for, and think this show is great for family viewing and for non anime fans.
The Film is Not Rated, another country seem to had gave it a PG rating. I feel this movie itself is a great family night movie.
