Hidden Gem Review, Dimension W

What is the Premise?

A new dimension had been decovered beyond that of X, Y, and Z, known as Dimension W. The New Tesla company has managed to create the coils, harnessing the power of Dimension W to supply seemingly limitless supply of energy. Unfortunately unregulated coils present a clear threat to all of humanity. With this in mind the New Tesla company works with specialist who skilled in hunting down unregulated coils called Collectors. Kyouma Mabuchi is a Collector who dislike coils in full and chose to not rely on them who gets a new partner, a robot name Mira who is linked to the coils and the fate of Dimension W.

What type of show is it?

A Sci-fi that try to give a bit more realistic feel then many shows it was set in 2072. Our lead depends on ‘outdated tech’ like a combustible engines for his car. A focus on action and building the world, introducing us to a easy to live in world before we explore the hidden monsters of the world. Later on the style of the show does seem to change.

Is it a Hidden Gem?

If you watch the first few episodes and feel this show may compete with the likes of Cowboy bebop your wasn’t the only one to feel such. Regardless the show didn’t keep up with the feel it gave at first. Although the second half of it’s only season didn’t destroy the fun of the show, it doesn’t keep up with the greatness it started with. I did enjoy the pairing of two unlikely partners but many felt that the sub characters was better written then the main leads. I think they wanted to make it a slow learn but didn’t fulfill it the writing seem to change near the middle of the show.

I myself like watching shows subtitle, but this show did come with high expectations from many people stateside. It was being release on cable TV at the time of release coming out at the same time here as it was in Japan. This show has GREAT dubs by Funimation.

Rating : A Rough Gem!
An Anime Worth going out of your way for, but you may leave feeling the show could had been better. I still find it entertaining to watch all the way though.
