What is the Premise?
In 22nd century Japan, many things had change, but the introduction of the Sibyl System is one of the biggest. Your life will be plan out by the system although you don’t need to follow it. Though everyone must keep clear a mental state. Psycho-Pass is one’s mental state, and a high Psycho-Pass shows high level of stress and criminal intent. Inspectors and there partners Enforcers uphold and enforce “justice” by subjugating those who higher Psycho-Passes, using Lethal force if high enough. Inspectors must be careful of their Enforcers though, as Enforcers are those who can not keep a clear psycho-pass.
Our lead, Akane Tsunemori, a new Inspector, has a honest desire to uphold justice but soon, she is questioning what justice truly is.
What type of show is it?
A Sci-fi show that throughout its dark theme and three seasons keeps changing thing up. The world itself feels alive and as we learn more about the Sibyl System in the first season, each season adds layers to the world as we learn more about it.
Is it a Hidden Gem?
I commonly don’t care for the sci-fi setting as much but I found myself enjoying this show quite a bit. I seen people compare this to Death Note which I don’t feel is really correct. Maybe if we talk about how it question what really is right and wrong, but the setting and style is so different, Death Note being a battle of the minds, and here is more world exploring and a system in place. while the first season of Psycho-Pass I think is the best, each new season try to take the torch in different ways, making each season not be more of the same.
A True Gem!
An Anime Worth going out of your way for, even likely to be enjoyed by some who isn’t normally into the setting. At least for the first season
How much of it is there?
With a number of movies out that fall in line of the main show there is a order to watch it.
Psycho-Pass Season 1 ? or Extended cut if you haven’t seen it. Very little was added to the Extended cut but if you haven’t seen season one it would be better to watch the Extended version.
