What is the Premise?
in the past people used humans used to live on the surface. Today they there is beasts that live on the surface so the bipedal population live on sky islands. Before living on the islands Willem Kmetsch once was a Brave who fought on the surface before being suspended for 500 years. Now he is the last human in a post-apocalyptic world. Now Willem get a job to protect weapons, which sends him to an a island with the Leprechauns race, a made race who can use ancient Dug weapons which can destroy the beasts.
What type of show is it?
As most may figure out from the long title, it is biased after a Novel. This show try to do many things in it’s 12 episodes it gets. It build it’s interesting world, the important characters to our story, it’s Drama and Tragedy, and get some action in all at the same time. It becomes clear while watching WorldEnd you find the show obviously intent on tugging on your heartstrings. I normally don’t care for tragedy sort of shows but this Anime has so many other interesting things going for it.
Is it a Hidden Gem?
The show feels like it had potential that it didn’t tap into, although some would likely wish the show had taken a different direction with all the possibilities it had. At the end, the story feels fresh, the production values are good, and really other then personal preferences nothing is really to complain about in this anime. Although this show seems to miss the high note it was aiming for.
