What is the Premise?
The Republic of San Magnolia is being attacked by Autonomous unmanned drones called the “Legion”. The public is told that the unman drones called Juggernauts fight and protect them … But in fact is they are piloted by the people who live outside of the eighty-five districts of the Republic. They are called the Eighty-sixers and considered to be less then human, yet they are the last line of defense for the republic.
What type of show is it?
Serious mecha show that show us a dystopian future. While the public itself thinks the Juggernauts that protect them are pilotless. Though even within the military themselves they dehumanizing the 86s, refer to them as processors as if they are just parts in a machine. Our lead within the district Lena Knows this is wrong and trying to take steps to correct this. Although she is well within the safety and comfort of the walls so she can’t truly understand the difference between her life and her processors.
Is it a Hidden Gem?
As we start with a high focus on discrimination, privilege and pride we are quick to grow from there. While I like the start of this anime it didn’t seem like it would be as good as it was going to be at first. Lena is clearly not the same as the 86 who risk their lives regardless of her feelings that she is one of them at first. She does care for them, a lot more then the others in the walls, but that can only get you so far. I almost want to compare it to Mob Psycho 100. The start is helping set the groundwork for the rest of the anime.

A True Gem!
I must admit, I enjoy the combat scenes quite a bit. As you watch the four legged Juggernauts fight you can tell the difference in pilots in the way they move and fight, showing attention to detail.
