What is the Premise?
Causes of death are many and varied. Old age, suicide, illness … But the cause of death that scares the most people in this day and age … is death by fire.
Fire Force Opening
Victims of Spontaneous Human Combustion (SHC) are originally humans. the phenomenon causes their bodies to spontaneously ignite and transform them into a fiery charcoal-like beings called Infernals that only know destruction. The Fire Force is made to find out what causes SHC and stop Infernals destruction. Do to this, some has the power to control or create fires.
What type of show is it?
A high action show that fit in well being compared to other shonen anime titles. It has amazing art but not as strong of a story. It does have a number of good gags as well.
Is it a Hidden Gem?
This was an anime I really looked forward to before it came out. I’m truthfully wonder how this show may had came out if it wasn’t for the Kyota Animation arson attack. The first two episodes shined. They really did. Episode three was delayed because of the attack and by episode 6 many was feeling that the show was going down hill. The concept was different and stood out but instead of focusing on this concept the anime started to focus on our cast, which like many fighting style shonen animes, isn’t the strongest.
Regardless Atsushi Ookubo who made the manga of Fire Force and better known for Soul Eater did play with some ideas here. I happen to be disappoint in many of it but still found laughs in even things I cared less about.
Rating : A Rough Gem!
An Anime that both is a mix of original and cliche ideas that don’t reach it full potential.
