Hidden Gem Review, The Dawn of the Witch

What is the Premise?

A Standalone Spinoff of Grimoire of Zero this anime focus on a boy who lost all memory three years ago. He currently attend a magic school in an area that accept mages but Headmaster Albus tasks him with a special training regimen in the south, that he accepts. Alongside the Dawn Witch, Holt, and Kudd, a lizard Beastfallen. They must establish a village of witches in a region where anti-witch sentiment remains strong.

What type of show is it?

Giving a feeling of a slice of life action show the show gave off nice animation and somehow a bit of a old school feel to it. The start rushes us forward leaning into leaning into character’s tropes at first before it start to build up the characters. While many return from Grimoire of Zero They are minor characters this time.

Is it a Hidden Gem?

While not as good as Grimoire of Zero this anime is able to stand on it’s own legs and I feel is quite watchable without knowing of the other anime and it’s world. That being said if you expected more like Grimoire you might be disappointed and this anime seem to rush quite a bit as well.

Rating :
A Rough Gem!

Standing it own your own two legs it turn out to be a fun ride as long as you don’t mind them pushing the story along at first without really spelling out what the story really is. It’s a slice of life adventure. Comparing The Dawn of the Witch to Grimoire of Zero really make it look worst then better.
